Wrestlers headed to Mat Classic XX

Area wrestlers are departing for Mat Classic XX in Tacoma on Friday and Saturday.

Numerous teams, including regional champions and state title contenders Central Valley in Class 4A, East Valley in 3A, Deer Park in 2A and Lakeside in 1A, will be chasing state titles.

The Greater Spokane League won 12 of 14 regional championships and have 38 state qualifiers in 4A, while 3A athletes won three titles from among eight finalists.

Great Northern League teams Deer Park and Riverside produced five champions from among eight finalists in leading their league in the 2A tourney, while Lakeside dominated the 1A event with 10 finalists and eight champions.
