Once these girls get rolling, there’s no slowing them down

A fancy dress ball means white gloves, party manners and stiff upper lips, right? Wrong.

When the Lilac City Roller Girls, Spokane’s own Roller Derby team, threw the Black and Blue Ball as a fundraiser recently in Hillyard, the gloves, so to speak, were off.

Sporting elaborate gowns in the black and blue color theme and dancing to a strong beat by local band Real Fine Day, the team and assorted other guests boogied and partied late into the night at the Market Street Market.

Everything about the event was the opposite of stuffy. It was in-your-face fun.

All in all the night proved that Spokane doesn’t just rock.

We roll!
