Heat end skid in big way

Shawn Marion scored 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting, Udonis Haslem added 17 and the Miami Heat used a huge third quarter to beat the Sacramento Kings 107-86 Tuesday night in Miami, snapping an 11-game losing streak.

Dwyane Wade finished with 15 points and nine assists for the Heat, who won for just the second time in their last 28 games – and did so in style, with their largest margin of the season.

Miami held Sacramento to 10 percent shooting (2 for 20) in the third quarter, a Heat franchise record. The Heat held a 31-11 edge in that period, the first time in more than a year Miami outscored a foe by at least 20 points in a quarter, and went on to become the final NBA team this season to reach the 10-victory mark.

Spencer Hawes scored 16 points, while Ron Artest and Kevin Martin each finished with 14 for the Kings, whose starters were outscored 80-48 by Miami’s first five.

Timberwolves 111, Jazz 100: At Minneapolis, Al Jefferson and Rashad McCants scored 22 points, Randy Foye added a season-high 20, and Minnesota beat Utah.

Minnesota forced 24 turnovers and held the Jazz to 6-for-21 shooting in the final quarter.

Suns 127, Grizzlies 113: At Memphis, Tenn., Steve Nash had 25 points and 13 assists and Shaquille O’Neal added 13 points to go with 11 rebounds, leading Phoenix to a win over the Grizzlies.

Amare Stoudamire scored 25 points for the Suns and Grant Hill had 23.

Bucks 105, Cavaliers 102: At Milwaukee, Michael Redd hit a game-winning 3-pointer as the final horn sounded, giving the Bucks a victory over Cleveland.

LeBron James scored 35 for the Cavaliers while Mo Williams had a season-high 37 for the Bucks.

Rockets 94, Wizards 69: At Houston, in their first game without Yao Ming, who is out for the season with an injury, Luther Head had 18 points to lead the Rockets to a win over Washington for their 13th straight victory.

The Wizards’ 69 points were a season low.

Lakers 96, Trail Blazers 83: At Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant scored 11 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and the Lakers held Portland to 36 percent field-goal shooting, beating the Trail Blazers for their ninth straight victory.
