Pocatello shuts down Moscow in opener

Jordan Steele scored 16 points and the Pocatello Indians held Moscow to 25.5 percent shooting in a 52-35 win over the Bears in the Idaho State 4A tournament first round at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho.

Kirk Thiemann chipped in 10 points and Alex Drecksel had eight points and nine rebounds for the Indians (14-13).

Mac Stannard led all scorers with 18 points for Moscow (8-14), which faces Emmett in a loser-out game today.

Shelley 59, Bonners Ferry 45: The Badgers (14-10) exploded out of the gates with 22 first-quarter points but only scored 23 the rest of the way and fell to the Russets (20-4) at Meridian High School.

Tannher Higham scored a game-high 18 points and also had seven rebounds, six assists and four steals for Shelley.

Ryan Winebark had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Bonners Ferry.

The Badgers face Buhl in a loser-out game today.

Kimberly 57, Kellogg 46: Cody Wadsworth scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and the Bulldogs (15-7) eclipsed the Wildcats (16-6).

A.J. Schroeder contributed 11 points, including 8-for-8 free-throw shooting, for Kimberly.

Kenny Stuart had a game-high 22 points to lead Kellogg.

Ty Ketchum added 10 points.

Kellogg faces Weiser in a loser-out game today.

Genesee 45, Wallace 36: Beau Dahmen scored 18 points and the Bulldogs (21-4) beat the Miners (17-7) at Vallivue High School.

Jordan Beehner led Wallace with 14 points. Darrick Holmquist had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Wallace faces Murtaugh in a loser-out game today.

Lapwai 41, Clark Fork 34: Harry Taylor and Lamont Phillips scored 11 points apiece to lead the Wildcats (21-4) past the Wampus Cats (18-5) at Caldwell High School.

Jared Broggi scored 14 to lead Clark Fork, which faces Clark County today in a loser-out game.
