Vandals beat Hawaii in overtime

HONOLULU – Michael Crowell scored 20 points, including a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime, and the Vandals ended a 27-game road losing streak with 85-77 basketball victory over Hawaii on Thursday night.

Jordan Brooks added 15 for Idaho, which notched its first road victory in the Western Athletic Conference this season. Idaho is 4-10 in WAC play, 7-19 overall.

Bill Amis scored 20 points, Bobby Nash added 19 and Matt Gibson chipped in 18 for the Rainbows, who fell to 11-15, 7-6.

Crowell hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 68 and force the overtime.

The bucket stopped an 8-0 Hawaii run that had given the Rainbows a 68-65 lead with 38 seconds left.

Idaho went on to outscore Hawaii 17-10 in overtime. Brooks had 14 rebounds for the Vandals.
