Luann, Funky funnies being reprinted

The Spokesman-Review

A handful of eagle-eyed readers noticed something peculiar about the comics earlier this week.

On Saturday, in the “Luann” strip, Bernice’s brother, Ben, appeared out of nowhere and said goodbye to Luann after a visit. On Monday, he arrived at the door.

Comic artists sometimes play tricks with timelines. But this one was our fault. A copy editor mistakenly grabbed the Saturday, Jan. 19, comics page and ran it on the 12th.

Because most of the strips don’t have storylines that were impacted, we opted to simply run the Jan. 12 comics page today. Two strips were thrown out of sequence – “Luann” and “Funky Winkerbean” – and we’re re-running the Jan. 19 strips here so readers can get caught back up with the story.

Please accept our apologies for any confusion. And as always, I welcome your questions or comments about the comics page at kenp@spokesman.com or (509) 459-5480.
