Music camp offered to area teens and pre-teens

pinch Staff

The Northeast Youth Center is inviting area teens and pre-teens to take part in two rock music-themed summer camps.

“The School of Rock Rules” will teach students ages 9-15 all about rock music, including how to design, play in and promote your own band. Instructors will teach classic and contemporary rock songs, and also music concepts like harmony, rhythm and band dynamics.

For a finale, students will perform a full rock concert for family and friends.

Two sessions of the class are planned: July 28-Aug. 1 for ages 13-15, and Aug. 4-8 for ages 9-12.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Northeast Youth Center II and Shaw Middle School.

The camp fee is $139 for the week, which includes USDA breakfast and lunch, a Rock T-shirt and plenty of fun.

The Northeast Youth Center is an nonprofit organization affiliated with the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department. It offers a variety of educational and recreational programs and a safe environment for ages 5-17.
