In brief: Girl Scout collects books for service project
Girl Scout Bailey Mote recently delivered 778 books and other items to the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave., in Coeur d’Alene. The 11-year-old, a member of Troop 2564, distributed letters requesting book donations when she delivered Girl Scout cookies, sought donations at yard and garage sales, and asked for donations by sending out e-mail requests.
Bailey collected the books as her service project for her Scout Bronze Award.
She is the daughter of Scott and Gina Mote of Coeur d’Alene.

Children’s book author reading at library
Sheri Hood, a Sandpoint children’s author, will read her story “The Fearful Fairy” for the pre-school program at the Coeur d’Alene Library, 702 E. Front Ave. The reading will be in the Shirley Parker Theater in the Library, on July 8 at 1:30 p.m.
“The Fearful Fairy” is illustrated by M. Faith Shaheen.
The Summer Reading program continues through July with the theme “Catch the Reading Bug.” Youth programs are available for children up to age 13. For days and times, call Youth Services at 769-2315, ext. 438.

Really BIG Raffle tickets sold out
Raffle tickets for the 15th annual Really BIG Raffle, benefiting the North Idaho College Foundation, are sold out.
Ticket holders and community members may attend the raffle drawing on Wednesday at 7 p.m., held at Fort Sherman Park.
Live music, refreshments and door prizes will be included at the event. Entry for door prizes and the five $100 cash bonus prizes begins at 5 p.m. Entries will not be accepted past 7.
Ticket holders need not be present to win the raffle prizes.

Julyamsh at Jacklin Arts and Culture Center
The third annual Julyamsh Indian Art Show and Sale, featuring more than 30 artists will be held on July 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jacklin Arts and Culture Center at 405 William St. in Post Falls’ historic district.
The evening will include Native Americans dressed in full regalia, music, art raffle and refreshments. A variety of sculpture, jewelry, paintings and much more will be on display for viewing and purchase.

Charter school schedules meetings
The Idaho Distance Education Academy, a K-12 statewide charter school that delivers public school curriculum and professional guidance to home educators, will hold meetings for prospective parents on Thursday and July 23.
