Churches team up to present VBS

Five Otis Orchards churches are joining to offer a vacation Bible school session to the community. It will be held July 28 through 31 at Starr Road Baptist Church at Wellesley Avenue and Starr Road.

Classes will be held daily from 9 a.m. to noon for children entering grades K-6. The week will end with a community carnival for all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. at Otis Orchards Elementary, 22000 E. Wellesley Ave.

The other participating churches include Kaleo, Word of Life, Journey Fellowship and Otis Orchards Community churches. For more information call 226-0544.

Barbecue Sunday

Opportunity Christian Church will host its annual summer barbecue at noon Sunday. There will be a contest for the best barbecue sauce.

Those attending are asked to bring their own meat to grill and a salad or dessert to share. The church will provide drinks and condiments.

The church is at 708 N. Pines Road.

Christ Lutheran Church will host its vacation Bible school July 21 through 25.

“The Trek” activities will include games, crafts, singing and Bible study. Day camp staff from Lutherhaven assisted by CLC volunteers, will lead the sessions. Campers will meet daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students entering kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend.

A fee of $15 will include lunches, snacks and a T-shirt for each camper.
