Comcast buys cable TV system serving 1,500 in Liberty Lake

From staff reports

Comcast Corp. has taken over operating the 1,500-subscriber cable TV system serving Liberty Lake, the company announced.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. Community Cable Service, which has provided cable TV to Liberty Lake since 1969, will continue operating a number of other small systems in the area, owner Martin Howser said.

Comcast spokesman Walter Neary said the cable company will invest in the Liberty Lake system, allowing customers there to add On Demand, pay-per-view and voice services.

“We would like to think this will be done by the end of the year,” Neary said.

He added the purchase made sense as Comcast already serves segments of the Liberty Lake area.

Current subscriber rates won’t change, Neary said. Over time the company will try to offer extras and introductory offers to bring in new business from Liberty Lake residents.
