Six from Deer Park DECA place at state
The DECA group from Deer Park High School recently took part in the DECA State Career Development Conference in Bellevue, Wash.
Six of the students from Deer Park qualified to participate in the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta.
Zach Harper was elected to serve as the 2008-09 Area 11 DECA president.
The six students to travel to Atlanta are Kadie Wear, who took fifth place in accounting and applications; Greg Schuler, second place in technical sales; Samantha Serrin second place in employment acquisition; Courtney Robbins, 10th place in apparel and accessories and Harper and Thea Grantham, 10th place in buying and merchandising team decision-making.
Best values in private colleges
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has ranked Whitworth University at 30th on the list of the 100 Best Values in Private Colleges.
Gonzaga University ranked 34th and Whitman College ranked 28th.

Poetry Out Loud
Kevin Ma, a freshman at Mead High School, took home an honorable mention at the state Poetry Out Loud finals held at the University of Puget Sound.

Westview Elementary School recently recognized students who showed they are trustworthy by being honest and reliable, having
the courage to do the right thing, building a good reputation, and being loyal and standing by a friend.
