Another round of auditions on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
Tonight’s must-see
“So You Think You Can Dance,” 8-10 p.m., Fox.
The best of the TV dance shows settles into its slot.
The first auditions ran Thursday and reran Monday. This round continues Wednesdays and Thursdays, for two weeks. By then, the show will have its final 20 and we’ll be hooked.
“Dance” has a wide-open approach. People leap, soar, spin. Some are lyrical, some sensual, most are worth seeing.
Tonight’s might-see
PBS’ “Great Performances: Maestro: Portrait of Valery Gergiev,” 8 p.m., KSPS channel 7; 10 p.m., KUID channel 12 and KCDT channel 26.
Valery Gergiev grew up amid the Caucasus Mountains at the edge of the Soviet Union. He would soon reach the epicenter of classical culture.
He was associate director of the legendary Kirov Opera in St. Petersburg at 24, artistic director at 35. At 55, he runs that (now named Mariinsky Theatre) and is conductor of more.
He’s a richly charismatic man. “He embraces your soul,” baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky says in this fine film, rippling with great music.

“Must Love Dogs” (2005), 7 and 9 p.m., Oxygen. Diane Lane and John Cusack star in a pleasantly understated romance.
Hockey, 5 p.m., NBC. After two games in Detroit, the Stanley Cup finals move to Pittsburgh. Here are two teams – Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins – that had never before met in the playoffs.
“Knocked Up” (2007), 8 p.m., HBO. Judd Apatow wrote and directed this funny and likable film about opposites (Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen), united by pregnancy.
“Entrapment” (1999), 9 p.m., WE. OK, it was semi-creepy to see Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones (then 69 and 30) as possible lovers. Still, the stars make it work, in a beautifully shot heist film.
“Criminal Minds,” 9 p.m., CBS. People might be hunting humans in Idaho.
“Men in Trees,” 10 p.m., ABC. This enjoyable drama won’t be back next season, but it airs its final new episodes. Tonight, Marin faces a writing deadline, but now she’s supposed to watch four puppies that Julia gave to Jack.
