Gonzaga places 12th

Scores, including those of Gonzaga University, soared during Tuesday’s final round of the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational golf tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif.

GU, with Stephanie Corey shooting a 3-over-par 75 as the only Bulldog to break 80, finished 12th with a 36-hole total of 635. San Jose State won the team title with a 598.

Women’s soccer

Eastern Washington placed four players – senior Jocelyn Bement, freshman Sara Byrne, junior Chelsey Hannesson and sophomore Brittany Sparks – on the All- Big Sky Conference second team.

•Whitworth’s Whitney Ramsey was named the Northwest Conference offense player of the week, while teammate Kelly Baker was named the defensive player of the week.

The Spokane Shock have added to their roster Louis Holmes, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end who played at Arizona.
