Sandpoint leads All-IEL soccer

7 Bulldogs earn special awards

Sandpoint dominated the special awards as Inland Empire League boys and girls soccer coaches announced their all-league teams.

In the boys, Sandpoint junior Daniel Anderson was named most valuable player. Sandpoint junior Adam Crossingham was named offensive player of the year and Sandpoint senior Tanner French was named defensive player of the year. Moscow senior Stephen Gressard was named goalkeeper of the year and Post Falls freshman Scott Benner was named newcomer of the year.

Sandpoint coach Randy Thoreson was named coach of the year.

Players named to the first team were Tanner Williams, Spencer Swerin, Anders Nostahl and Shawnn Carlson of Sandpoint; Robby Astin and Forrest Walker of Coeur d’Alene; Jimmy Williamson, Tyler Powers and Josh Gordon of Lake City; Griffen Hoerner of Post Falls; and David Sanchez of Moscow.

Named to the second team were Jordon Eborall, Grant Stimmel and Austin Green of CdA; Austin Thomas of Lewiston; Ben Murray and Forrest Andrews of Sandpoint; Mac Stannard and Gram Lundgren of Moscow; Nick Lenihan and Matt Lieggi of LC; and Josh Martin of Post Falls.

In the girls, senior Bailey Hewitt of Sandpoint was named the most valuable player.

Senior Sadie Simon of CdA was named offensive player of the year and junior Elise Matz of CdA was named defensive player of the year. Senior Shannon Fraser of LC was named goalkeeper of the year and Kendall Stratton of Sandpoint was named newcomer of the year.

Sandpoint coach Adam Tajan was named coach of the year.

Players named to the first team were Brittany Oakley and Liz Stone of Sandpoint; Nicole Mederios and Nikki Webster of LC; Tareyn White and Kara Siers of Post Falls; Rachel Crawford, Whitney Wood and Hayley Smith of CdA; and Kerry Moller of Moscow.

Named to the second team were Brittany Clawson and Sandy Whalen of Sandpoint; Kellsi Parson and Carli Steeley of Lewiston; Peggy Beyerlein and Jennifer Hansen of Moscow; Jessica Duran and Meghan Roletto of CdA; Hannah Slinkard and Heidi Mueller of Post Falls; and Sara Behm of LC.

Volleyball

North Star League coaches named their all-league team.

Rian Miller of Lakeside was named most valuable player. Named to the first team were Ruth Brunelle of Lakeside; Brandi Bilaski, Sydney Stein and Katie Jenkins of Wallace; Shania Gustafson, Chelsea Macumber and Moranda Becker of Clark Fork; Kami Haynes and Gina Palmiter of Kootenai; and Nikki Axtman of Mullan.
