Person found dead in parking lot

Staff report

A person lay dead in a car at a Wal-Mart parking lot, likely for most of the day Tuesday, before anyone realized something was amiss.

An employee noticed the silver Ford Taurus with what appeared to be a person sleeping inside Tuesday morning at the Wal-Mart at 9212 N. Colton St., said Spokane police Officer Kevin King.

The employee returned to work that night and realized the person was dead, King said.

Police arrived about 9 p.m., and major crimes detectives were beginning to open the car about 10:40 p.m.

The death appears natural, “but they’re not sure yet,” King said.
