Interfaith service has music, more

Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., will host “Voices of Thanksgiving – An Interfaith Service,” today at 10 a.m.

The service will feature music from the Unity Church Choir and a Native American flute player. There will also be blessings from the Jewish, Sufi and Baha’i communities and chanting from the Hindu and Buddhist communities.

More Thanksgiving activities

•The First Church of Christ, Scientist, 310 E. 14th Ave., will hold a special Thanksgiving Day service today at 10 a.m.

The service includes gratitude from the congregation, the national Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, a Bible lesson, hymns and prayer.

Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave., will have a Thanksgiving Day service today at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Gonzaga University and St. Aloysius Church will present a free Thanksgiving Dinner today from noon to 2 p.m. at Cataldo Hall on the GU campus, 502 E. Boone Ave.

The dinner is also sponsored by Sodexho Campus Services.

Advent events

Mead United Methodist Church, 12611 N. Wilson St., Mead, will present Advent study Sunday evenings through Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. during worship services.

The study group will include the video series, “Jesus Files” and a soup supper will be served during time for discussion.

Destiny Church, 4017 E. 21st Ave., welcomes Larry and Cherrie Simpson to the Sunday 10 a.m. worship service. Cherrie has been honored as Female Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year “for five years running” by the Country Gospel Music Association, and they both travel the country as ministers, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Buddhism study and lecture

Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., will present a screening of a DVD series on Buddhism starting Sunday from noon to 1 p.m.

The first lecture is “What is Buddhism?”, and there will be a discussion after the screening.
