Britney’s back: Better than ever?

Britney Spears (Associated Press / The Spokesman-Review)

Britney Spears’ rebranding is almost complete: All she needs is MTV’s imprimatur.

Which is why the music cable-TV channel is releasing the documentary “Britney: For The Record,” which Spears says will “set the record straight.”

About what isn’t clear. Though reportedly at one point in the show Spears appears shocked at her old ways – like the shaved head, the bare bottom, the MTV awards show where she sleepwalked through her act.

“I look back and I’m like, ‘I’m a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?’ ”

The 90-minute special will be telecast Nov. 30, which – coincidentally, of course – just happens to be two days before the release of her new album.

We’re likely to see dueling Palins

After weeks of speculation, it appears that GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin really will appear on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” on Oct. 25.

New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams reports, “It’s confirmed. … Sketches are being sketched as we speak.”

Paparazzo by any other name …

Be still Gertrude Stein: A celebrity photographer thinks being called a “paparazzo” will hurt his chances during his upcoming civil trial against Keanu Reeves. Attorneys for Alison Silva contend the words “paparazzo” and “paparazzi” are derogatory and would unfairly prejudice jurors. Silva is suing Reeves, claiming the actor caused him to fall while he was taking pictures of the “Matrix” star in March 2007.

Like grandpa, twin Presleys

Lisa Marie Presley has given birth to twin daughters. Cindy Guagenti, publicist for Elvis Presley’s, daughter announced the news over the weekend. Each little girl weighed over 5 pounds and will refer to music producer Michael Lockwood as daddy. They join Presley’s 19-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son from a previous marriage.

Maybe the loaf went bad

We know you were concerned. So relax: Singer Meat Loaf, 57, was released from a London hospital after three days of “testing and evaluation.” The rocker checked into the hospital Oct. 6 after acting squirrelly during the Q Award show in London. Loaf’s rep declined to disclose the singer’s problem.

Another chance to shoot J.R.

On Nov. 8, J.R., Bobby, Sue Ellen and other Ewing kin will mark the 30th anniversary of the TV show “Dallas” with a reunion and barbecue at Southfork Ranch. Cast members Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy will be on hand. Tickets costing up to $1,000 each are being swallowed up by fans from Japan, Australia, Europe and the United States.
