What about McCain’s associates?

David Sarasohn

“Hello. I’m calling for John McCain and the RNC because you need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, a judge’s home and killed Americans. And Democrats will enact an extreme leftist agenda if they take control of Washington. Barack Obama and his Democratic allies lack the judgment to lead our country. This call was paid for by McCain-Palin 2008 and the Republican National Committee at 202-863-8500.” – GOP robocall to voters in swing states.

It has been criticized by Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Tuesday on CBS, John McCain explained, “That robocall is absolutely accurate. … He was friends with a terrorist and his wife. He was. And we need to know the full relationship.”

Also on the phone these days:

“Hello. I’m calling because you need to know that John McCain has worked closely, over an eight-year period, with one George W. Bush, alias W, whose administration has blown up the American economy, doubled the national debt and shattered the United States’ place in the world. Moreover, we think you should know that John McCain’s fingerprints were found on many of those policies.

“Also, while Barack Obama was 8 years old at the time Bill Ayers caused his destruction, during the time when George W. Bush was running amok John McCain was between 64 and 72 years of age, and deeply involved with Bush’s activities.

“We have photographs.

“Also programs from Republican fundraising dinners.

“Also voting records.

“(We’re not making any charges about John McCain’s friendship with George Bush’s wife, or for that matter with Bill Ayers’ wife.)

“We need to know more details about the relationship between John McCain and George W. Bush, and McCain has been very evasive. During the first part of 2008 McCain claimed, in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida, to be very close with Bush. More recently, he has refused to discuss the connection.

“In one recent debate, McCain insisted, ‘I am not George Bush,’ although McCain has not provided DNA evidence to resolve the issue. We need to know the full relationship.

“We do know that, although McCain has also been evasive on this, McCain and Bush have many acquaintances in common. There is a Richard ‘Dick’ Cheney, also never discussed by McCain in public, who has been deeply involved in Bush’s activities. McCain needs to explain why these days he is careful never to be photographed with Cheney, or to appear in the same place.

“McCain also needs to explain his relationship with one Donald ‘Don’ Rumsfeld, whose last known address was the Pentagon. McCain insists that he was the first to demand that Rumsfeld leave the Pentagon, but there seems to be no existing evidence of that demand.

“Rumsfeld now seems to have disappeared entirely, and there are questions whether he was the victim of foul play.

“Or the perpetrator of it.

“McCain also needs to be clear about his vision of one Sarah Palin, whom he insists is both an authority on national security issues and knows more about energy than anyone else in the United States.

“There is no evidence of the existence of any such Sarah Palin, yet McCain continues to talk about her.

“We think you should know that there are serious questions about the judgment of someone who has spent the last eight years consorting with these individuals. We think you should remember these relationships when you cast your vote for president.

“We know that you are receiving other robocalls concerning Barack Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers. But compared with all of John McCain’s dubious relationships, Ayers is an antique.

“And in terms of damage to the United States, Ayers was an amateur.”
