Spokane HOPE School Book Fair – Hosted by the Spokane HOPE (Hearing-Oral Program of Excellence) School, a private, nonprofit preschool for children who are deaf or hearing impaired. The proceeds are for scholarships for children and families who are unable to afford the tuition, and are interested in their children learning to listen and talk. After-school Camp – Hosted by the Northeast Youth Center. For children ages 5-12. Children will be transported from school to the Northeast Youth Center II for a snack, games, computer play, arts and weekly field trips. Bead It Up! – For children ages 8-12. Learn new techniques to create a variety of jewelry and other decorative items. “Trunk or Treat” – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County will host its third-annual event where participants trick or treat from the trunks of cars as a safe and supervised way to celebrate Halloween. Parents Forum – - Hosted by Odyssey Youth Center and PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Spokane. The fForum is intended to provide a safe space for parents of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning youth who would like the opportunity to talk to other parents, ask questions, get support, and find out about local resources for their children. Spooktacular! – Where do cats and heroes and ghosts all meet the day after they tTrick-or-tTreat? It’s at the symphony they find a seat, and dressed in costumes they’ll all compete! Halloween favorites return with one-hour Spokane Symphony Family Concerts for elementary ages. Come early for lobby activities – including the popular Musical Petting Zoo – and compete with the musicians onstage in the best costumes contest. Spokane Youth Symphony – - Presenting “First Edition.” All four of the Youth Symphony’s progressive orchestras perform, beginning with the Intermediate String Orchestra conducted by Faye Atwood. The Junior Orchestra, conducted by Carol Pederson follows, and, just before intermission, the Junior Symphonic Orchestra, Paul Featherstone conducting, takes the stage. The senior orchestra, the Spokane Youth Orchestra, conducted by Verne Windham and 66 members strong, completes the concert following the intermission. 4 p.m., Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W.
