In brief: Evening egg hunt for scholarships

The 11th annual Flashlight Egg Hunt will be held Saturday at Hays Park, 1700 E. Providence Ave. The Hunt begins at 7:45 p.m. for kids ages 4-6, 8:30 p.m. for kids ages 7-9, and 8:45 p.m. for kids ages 10-13.

The Easter event features glo-bunnies to help hunters find eggs filled with candy and prizes. A flashlight, bag, and weather-appropriate clothing are required for all participants.

Cost is $8 per child. Pre-registration is required by Friday.

The event is a fundraiser for Kids-Helping-Kids. Proceeds will support scholarships for low-income children in the Hillyard community.

Riverfront Park

Easter egg hunt with prizes, swag

KIX 96 and Riverfront Park will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Park on Saturday at noon.

Children are asked to arrive early at the Looff Carrousel, where they will be divided into age appropriate groups. Approximately 5,000 plastic eggs filled with prizes are being given away by KIX 96 at the event.

Riverside State Park

Hoofprints holds Stampede preview

The Hoofprints 4-H Riding Club, organized by the Washington State University Spokane County Extension Office and 4-H, will hold the Stroke Stampede Ride and Run Preview on April 18 at 9 a.m. at Riverside State Park, 9711 W. Charles Road, at the old Military Air Strip.

The public is welcome to bring horses and bikes and preview the Stampede courses and learn about the event, taking place on Sept. 27.

Salvation Army dedicates play area

The Salvation Army of Spokane will have a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony of its new playgrounds at 222 E. Indiana Ave. on April 16 at 5 p.m.

The new playgrounds will benefit the more than 100 at-risk and homeless children who live at the Salvation Army campus.
