If you’re going green throughout your home, don’t stop at the nursery door. With the latest in eco-friendly products, raising kids green just got more fun.

Start Them Young

Keeping a baby happy is sometimes no easy task. But with the Kanoe Baby Hammock, they’ll go ga-ga.

“The reason the Kanoe makes such a great green [nursery item] is because it’s made from top quality organic cotton,” says Kanoe founder Leslie Leroux. “One of my most essential criteria for the Kanoe has always been that it be safe and beneficial to the babies who will sleep in it. That means the materials must be free of chemicals, and the fabric has to be soft, supple and comfortable, yet also durable and strong.”

Kanoe, based in Whitefish, Mont., has products sold through retailers across the United States and Canada. The hammocks are motion-sensitive and come in a variety of colors, including the popular Earth/Sky.

Play Green

Lincoln Logs are fun, but Tree Blocks are the new way for kids to play in an environmentally conscious world.

Tree Blocks are made from the discards of managed forests and other sustainable sources. Pieces are shaped like bridges, y-shaped cylinders and disks, some still with bark on them, enabling children to create towers, cottages or whatever their mind imagines.

The company, based in Santa Barbara, Calif., also offers dollhouses and furniture for dollhouses. Best of all, no living trees are harmed in the making of Tree Blocks.
