Hospital picketing not helpful

The Spokesman-Review

What is an informational picket? That is what I hear was happening at Deaconess on April 23. I myself am not exactly sure what that means. Was this meant to be informational to me the employee? Or was it just another underhanded way the union is using us to try and make Deaconess look inadequate to the public?

I have worked here for 25 years and what I don’t understand is why the union always comes up with ideas and ways that they say will benefit us as employees but what it really does is raise questions regarding our integrity in the community.

The future of health care is in dire straits right now, and this union is not going to fix it. They are not helping secure our jobs by picketing. I believe a picket of any kind at Deaconess at this time will only disrupt patient care resulting in a lower patient census.

I feel this was not beneficial or informative to me or the community. I do know from personal experience that our patients receive excellent care at Deaconess. How do I know that? Because I am a part of that team and proud of it.
