Indians shut out Tri-City

Henry lasts five innings for first victory of season

PASCO – Vinnie DiFazio and Jason Ogata delivered RBI doubles and Ben Henry pitched five strong innings as the Spokane Indians beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 3-0 in Northwest League action on Sunday night.

Henry (1-2) allowed three hits over five shutout innings, striking out one and not issuing a walk for his first victory of the season.

The Indians opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Kyle Rhoad walked to lead off the game. After a Joseph Bonadonna lineout, DiFazio ripped a double to left field, driving in Rhoad.

Spokane added a run in the second. Clark Murphy led off the inning with a single and Zach Zaneski was hit by a pitch. Rhoad’s sacrifice bunt advanced both runners, and Bonadonna’s sacrifice fly drove in Murphy to give the Indians a 2-0 lead.

In the fifth, Bonadonna led off with a bunt single and advanced to second base on a balk by Dust Devils starter Daniel Perkins (2-2). Bonadonna advanced to third on DiFazio’s groundout, and then scored on Ogata’s double.

Justin King and Reinier Bermudez each pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the Indians. King allowed two hits, struck out one and walked two. Bermudez earned his first save of the season, allowing two hits and striking out two.

The teams conclude a three-game series tonight, and the Indians open a five-game homestand against Salem-Keizer on Tuesday.
