Expand on Medicare

The Spokesman-Review

I support the following regarding health care reform:

1. A public option, much like Medicare: a combination of public and private insurance. If we can’t get to an across-the-board public option, at least start by lowering the Medicare age to 55 years of age over 10 years. Use those current private insurance premiums as the means to finance all or part of the public option or broadened Medicare plan.

2. Drug companies must be required to negotiate prices with the government, following the VA model.

3. Access (voluntary or required) to health care for the approximately 47 million persons presently not covered.

Do not, under any circumstance, fall victim to the hype and mostly lies currently spewed by the health insurance companies, who will stop at nothing to preserve their position at the money trough, whereby they return increasingly less of our premiums to us as they strive to increase their profits and dividends to stockholders.
