Football: Playing his first NFL game since his release from prison, Michael Vick got a standing ovation in a half-empty stadium, avoided any ugly protests and completed four passes for 19 yards in a 33-32 Philadelphia Eagles home victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Eagles won the exhibition game on David Akers’ 34-yard field goal in the final minute.

Philadelphia coach Andy Reid didn’t wait long to use Vick. The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback jogged onto the field for the second play from scrimmage, lining up as a wide receiver, and got a hearty welcome from the notoriously tough Philly fans.

•Judge accepts Vick’s plan for debt payment: A judge on Thursday approved Michael Vick’s plan to repay creditors $20 million and emerge from bankruptcy.

The plan, approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro, was supported by all but one of Vick’s creditors, which is owed $13,000. It hinges on Vick liquidating an estimated $9 million in assets, including houses, boats and high-end sport utility vehicles and future NFL earnings.

He would not have to pay creditors during the first year with the Eagles. If successful, creditors would be paid in six years.

Leftwich wins job, Bucs lose: Byron Leftwich outperformed Luke McCown, likely earning the Tampa Bay starting quarterback job, as the Buccaneers lost 10-6 to the Miami Dolphins in an exhibition game at Tampa, Fla.

Chad Pennington led a Miami drive that produced a field goal, as well as a long touchdown drive in the third quarter for the Dolphins.

Boller leads Rams over Bengals: Kyle Boller played better in his second game filling in for Marc Bulger, completing a flurry of short passes during a 24-21 St. Louis Rams’ road victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Both teams were missing their starting quarterbacks, turning the game into a preview of how the regular season could be if their injuries linger.

Garcia tied for lead at the Barclays

Golf: Sergio Garcia took another important step toward recovering from a troublesome season with a 6-under 65 for a share of the lead at the Barclays at Liberty National Golf Course.

Paul Goydos and Steve Marino also shot 6-under 65s in the first event of the FedEx Cup playoffs in Jersey City, N.J.

This is the only tournament Tiger Woods has played at least three times without finishing in the top 10. He finished the first round tied for 27th with a 1-under 70.

•Quarterfinals set for U.S. Amateur: Stanford’s Steve Zeigler came up with a pair of birdies to extend his match, and finally finished off Dan Woltman in 22 holes to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

The other quarterfinals pit fourth-seeded Ben Martin against Arkansas senior David Lingmerth, Oklahoma State sophomore Peter Uihlein against Texas senior Charlie Holland and Fresno State freshman Bhavik Patel against Phillip Mollica.

•Kuznetsova, Davydenko upset at Pilot Pen: Amelie Mauresmo rallied to win a 7-6 (9), 2-6, 6-3 quarterfinal over top-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova at the Pilot Pen tennis tournament at New Haven, Conn.
