Old safe’s contents a mystery
MARYSVILLE, Wash. – A safe from the 1880s that was once owned by Marysville’s first mayor has been donated to the city’s historical society.
Nobody knows the combination or what’s inside this mysterious 2,500-pound safe.
Officers of the Marysville Historical Society have been joking about hiring a safecracker or selling tickets for a chance to see what’s inside.
But the safe’s contents could remain a mystery forever. Adam Benson, the manager of Everett Safe and Lock, says the hand-painted safe is probably more valuable left as is and speculates that it’s probably empty anyway.
The only way to open it may be to damage the antique with a drill, and the mayor’s descendants don’t want that to happen.
