Douglas’ hot hand spurs Shadle Park

Robby Douglas had 22 of his game-high 29 points in the first half Saturday as the Shadle Park Highlanders (2-1) downed visiting Ferris 74-61 in the Saxons’ season opener.

Douglas helped shoot the Highlanders into a 23-point lead by halftime of the non-league game between Greater Spokane League teams.

Most of Douglas’ points in the first half came on drives to the basket. He also had six three-point plays. He was the lone Highlander in double digits.

Four Saxons finished in double figures, led by 12 each from Connor Halliday and Chris Wilson.

Other non-leaguers

Coeur d’Alene 76, Mead 48: The Vikings (3-1) wore down the visiting Panthers (2-1), outscoring them in every quarter including 20-9 in the fourth. Five Vikings finished in double figures, led by 16 each from Devon Austin and Connor Williams, who tied teammate Deon Watson for the team lead in rebounds with 10. Aaron Dunn led Mead with 15 points.

Gonzaga Prep 91, Moses Lake 39: Parker Kelly scored 22 to lead the Bullpups (3-0) past the visiting Chiefs. Ryan Nicholas chipped in 17 for G-Prep.

North Central 78, Chiawana 68: The Indians (1-3) cruised to victory at home over the new school from Pasco. NC opened a 50-28 lead by halftime. Chiawana pulled within eight points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get any closer. Lucas Evans led NC with 15 points.

Rogers 70, Medical Lake 27: The Pirates (3-2) jumped on the Cardinals (1-2) early and often in the easy win at Rogers. Derek Foote led NC with 21 points.

Lewiston 66, Pullman 54: Matthew Kalbfleisch had 17 points to lead the visiting Bengals (3-1) over the Greyhounds (0-2).

Timberlake 51, Newport 32: Derek Tymesen and Travis Porter scored 13 each as the Tigers (4-1) cruised past the visiting Grizzlies (2-3).

Priest River 84, Chewelah 73: Three straight 3-pointers sparked a 12-2 run to open the second quarter as the Spartans (3-1) topped the visiting Cougars (4-1).

Pendleton (Ore.) 74, Clarkston 56: Drew Adams had 16 but it wasn’t enough for the Bantams (2-2), who fell to the host Buckaroos in their tournament.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 72, Kittitas 61: Derek Isaak’s 32 led the visiting Warriors (2-1).

Freeman 54, Deer Park 49: Taylor Vold had 24 points and seven rebounds to lead the Scotties (3-3) past the Stags (1-1) at DP. Jared Pyeatt had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead DP. Vold broke a tie with 40 seconds left with a 3-pointer.

Northwest Christian 60, Lakeside (WA) 45: Cole Ramey made 11 of 16 shots, finishing with 25 points, to lead the Crusaders (2-2) past the visiting Eagles (3-3).

Rosalia 71, Tri-Cities Prep 50: Jim Maley and Nathan Richards had 17 points apiece to lead the Spartans (2-3) past the visitors.

Wilbur-Creston 53, Valley Christian 32: Austin Snavely had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (5-0) past the visiting Panthers (1-2). W-C is off to its best start since the programs merged in 1986.

Columbia (Burbank) 74, Lind-Ritzville 66: The Broncos (1-1) led most of the way until poor shooting caught up with them in the fourth quarter at home. Jake Eichener led L-R with 15.

Panorama League

Springdale 68, Inchelium 59: The visiting Chargers (5-1, 2-0), behind Rodney Abrahamson’s 26 points and 17 rebounds, held off the Hornets (2-3, 0-2). Tony Louie led the Hornets with 23 points.

St. George’s 58, Columbia 21: The Dragons (3-2, 2-0) outscored the visiting Lions (0-6, 0-2) 25-2 in the first quarter. Karl Muelheims led St. George’s with 14 points.

Cusick 60, Republic 33: Tyler Edwards had 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lead the Panthers (3-0, 1-0) over the visiting Tigers (3-1, 0-1).

Wellpinit 79, Northport 24: The visiting Redskins (4-1, 3-0) forced 38 turnovers to defeat the Mustangs (2-3, 0-2). Cody Flett led Wellpinit with 21.

Selkirk 77, St. Michael’s 64: Hunter Enyeart had 23 to lead the visiting Rangers (3-3, 1-1) over the Warriors (1-2, 1-2).

LaCrosse-Washtucna 52, Pomeroy 47: Jeff Zimmer had 17 to lead the visiting Tigercats (3-1) over the Pirates (2-2).
