Sources available for snow day news

Winter is here and snow is on its way, and North Idaho schools are prepared for emergency school closures.

In the Coeur d’Alene School District, information can be found by calling the district hotline at (208) 667-0784. The information will be updated by 6 a.m.

In the Post Falls School District, school closures will be posted on the district Web site at www.pfsd.com by 6 a.m.

The Lakeland School District closures will be broadcast on area radio stations: KVNI-1080 AM; KCDA-103 FM; KXLY-920 AM; KXLY-100 FM; KGA-1510 AM; and KDRK-94 FM, after 6:30 a.m.

To find out about closures in the Lake Pend Oreille School District, information can be found by calling the emergency school closure hotline at (208) 263-2312.

Snow day school closures will also be broadcast on television stations, including KREM-2, KXLY-4 and KHQ-6.

Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy will also post its school closures on area radio and television stations, along with television station Web sites and www.twitter.com after 5 a.m.

School closures are based on drifting, blowing snow and/or black ice, and how inclement weather conditions would affect the safety of students, staff and parents.
