Reform foes lead stall effort

The Spokesman-Review

I find laughable what a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC poll came up with. According to those polled, more people are against Obama’s health care plan than are in favor of it. More would rather it not pass than want it to pass.

First of all, it’s not Obama’s health care plan. The plan still drags on in the Senate. After that it goes back to the House.

Obama simply provided some basic guidelines about affordability and coverage. It won’t be “his” health care plan until he signs it into law.

Secondly, this nonsense of killing what’s struggling for life in the Senate and starting over plays right into the hands of those who want no health care reform at all.

Look, you can’t improve on something you don’t have in place to start with. Sen. Tom Coburn knows this. Why do you think he wants to drag out the process? He has the green light from his leadership in the Senate. They know how close we are coming to the 60 votes needed to move forward.

Let’s get this done now and make changes for the better down the road.
