No L.A. life for little girl Ledger

From Wire Reports

Michelle Williams has vowed that Matilda, her 3-year-old daughter with actor Heath Ledger, will not grow up anywhere near Los Angeles.

And why would that be?

“For all the obvious reasons,” Williams told the British tabloid Daily Telegraph.

“Being an actor’s daughter,” Williams said. “It’s a town that’s about one thing, and I want her to have options.”

Williams, 28, said she hopes Matilda – who currently, no surprise here, wants to become a cowgirl – grows up to be a doctor.

As for herself, Williams added that it’s more important to be a mom than an actress, even if it means she’ll lose the chance of becoming a megastar.

“I’ll be happy making movies for $300,000 for the rest of my life if the roles are interesting,” she said.

So far she isn’t doing too poorly. Williams is currently shooting Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel “Shutter Island,” which puts her amid a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo and Emily Mortimer.

Jewel’s knee no gem

Singer Jewel, all set to shake a rug on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” has had a setback. Seems she’s injured her knee while practicing. She says, however, that she hopes to be “good to go by next week” “I can cha cha with the best of them,” she said. “Don’t count me out as I am in this for the long run.”

The end, finally, is near

No, you aren’t crazy. On Monday Paris Hilton will start doing CBS promos with comic Craig Ferguson for such prime-time shows as “The Big Bang Theory,” “How I Met Your Mother” and “Two and a Half Men.”

Wasn’t ‘Friends’ a joke, too?

Brian Austin Green should have known it was too good to be true love. The 35-year-old former “Beverly Hills 90210” star has broken up with his eerily sexy 22-year-old girlfriend, “Transformers” star Megan Fox.

One source told whomever would listen that the couple will “remain friends” and “are both focusing on their careers.”

A rested Richter coming back

One way that Conan O’Brien figures to upgrade his act when he takes over the “Tonight Show” from Jay Leno on June 1 is to reach back into his own past.

NBC says that O’Brien’s old pal, comic Andy Richter, has been signed to be the show’s announcer and act in some sketches.

Quotable quote

“She is pathetic now. Madonna used to be a symbol of rebellion in the ’80s, someone who was against religious orthodoxy. Now we have this Madonna who is always preaching kabbalah, trying to teach people how to live their lives.” That’s neo-feminist Camille Paglia on the once and always Material Girl.
