Answers in natural gas

The Spokesman-Review

Our country needs a plan that employs people and brings financial recovery. We can do this with a loan from the government to convert our transportation system to the use of natural gas instead of gas from oil. We have a surplus of natural gas.

This can be accomplished by providing refueling stations at each truck stop in the nation through natural gas lines or through tanker delivery. Immediate use can be had by completing installations served by round trip or short haul transportation first. Conversion of transport trucks may coincide with and be financed under the same plan. New trucks should be built for natural gas use. After truck refueling stations are completed, enough other facilities could be built to accomodate all motor vehicles.

All of the above can be repaid by a natural gas tax with a portion of the savings from its use as it is about two-thirds the cost of oil produced gasoline. We all save by using a cheaper fuel. All of our goods and services requiring transportation should cost less. It is a cleaner burning fuel with less harm to the environment. We would finally be free from foreign oil. We would add to employment in all parts of the country. The country would be paid back. Let us do it.
