President deserved better

The Spokesman-Review

I was filled with sadness to see that picture of George W. Bush, our president for the past eight years, leave the White House. For a man who “gave his all” while president of this country, he deserved much better.

Unfortunately, it appears that it is more fun and gets more press if our president is belittled and accused of wrongdoing. I hope this doesn’t happen to Barack Obama. As Americans we all need to stand behind our president in office – not accuse and belittle his every thought, word and deed.

Thank God we had George W. Bush in office when 9/11 happened. He gave us the strength to go on. We knew that while he was in office, that would not happen again on his watch, and it didn’t. He was right to impose interrogation tactics and adopt other extreme security measures in order to keep such a disaster from ever happening again.

I encourage all of you, who believe as I do, to send President Bush a thank-you note for his term of service.
