The West Valley School District has asked voters to consider two levies by Feb. 3. The levies include the Replacement Maintenance and Operations Levy and the Replacement Technology Capital Projects Levy for 2010 through 2012.
I am writing this letter in support of these two levies and ask WV voters to also vote “yes” on both levies.
In difficult economic times we all evaluate our priorities and ask whether our money is being spent wisely. The education of our children is one of the best investments we can make and I think the WV District has been a good steward in managing the tax dollars that we have given them. Please consider the following points as you consider this request as a WV voter:
•The district is committed to providing a quality education to the students and has a great history of providing many students with a wide range of educational opportunities. WV has prepared its students to be successful in a wide range of educational pursuits, including Ivy League schools, universities, the military, trade schools and the workforce.
•The district is not asking for a tax increase and is confident that it can continue to provide for the various educational needs of WV students and knows it will be faced with reduced state funding.
•The district has a history of good fiscal management and has maintained its buildings and equipment in an exemplary manner.
•WV voters have consistently supported a strong educational program for their children. This is a heritage that has been provided for children served in the past and must continue for future students of West Valley.
We have three sons who have been educated in the West Valley District and our last son will graduate from WV in 2010. Each one has received a quality education and more importantly was nurtured and developed by caring teachers, coaches and staff.
We ask you to join our family in voting “Yes” on the two WV levies placed before us. These levies will allow us to continue to provide the necessary funding for a strong education and instill in our WV students their responsibility to be good citizens.
