County to buy Antoine Peak land

From Staff Reports

Spokane County is getting nearly $1.9 million from the state to buy land around Antoine Peak and realign part of the Centennial Trail.

About $1.7 million from the state Recreation and Conservation Office, along with money from the county’s Conservation Futures fund, will be used to buy 370 acres near the peak that will be developed into a “watchable wildlife” area.

Some $200,000 from the conservation office will be used to realign the trail at Gateway Park near the Washington-Idaho border.
