Tibetan Buddhist speaker will discuss world peace

The Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Road, will present Geshe Thupten Phelgye, a Tibetan Buddhist Ambassador to the Sulha Peace Project in the Middle East, Sunday at 6 p.m.

Phelgye will speak about “Ethics for a Happy Society” and will discuss his devotion to world peace.

Interfaith fundraiser

Interfaith Hospitality of Spokane will present, “Hot off the Grill” Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Clark and Barb Henley.

The evening will include food tastings by guest chef Jeff Busch, and beverages will be provided.

The cost to attend is $50 per person.

Mentors needed

The Childbirth and Parenting Alone program of Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers who would like to mentor young, single pregnant women in the Doula Project. The project supports and encourages women during pregnancy and early parenting.

Volunteers must make a one-year commitment to spend two hours a week with a young mother, be a parent themselves, have a high school education or a GED and be at least 26 years old.

Applications are now being accepted, and training will begin in the fall.
