Registration open for kids fair event

FAIRGROUNDS – The Junior Advisory Board will host a pre-fair craft event for ages 5 to 18 at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St., from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 1.

Participants must pre-register for the event. Registration forms are due to the Spokane County Interstate Fair Office by July 27.

St. George’s offers scholarships

SPOKANE COUNTY – Scholarship applications are now being accepted for freshmen and sophomores who are in financial need to attend St. George’s School. Depending on the need, the scholarships could be as much as $12,500 per year for three or four years.

The money comes from The Deena Barber Memorial Scholarship Fund, a $50,000 scholarship raised by a group of St. George’s students in memory of the high school history teacher who died before school began in 2008. Barber was also the chair of the school’s fine arts department.
