WSU players won’t face charges in bicycle case

COLFAX – Washington State University defensive backs LeAndre Daniels and Tyree Toomer will not face criminal charges after their arrests last month, Whitman County prosecutor Denis Tracy announced Wednesday.

Toomer, a sophomore, and Daniels, a redshirt freshman, were arrested June 9 after taking four bicycles from an area on campus.

Three of the bikes were apparently abandoned at the end of the school year, so the prosecutor can’t prove that a theft occurred when the men took the bikes.

The fourth bike, found by the men in nearby bushes, was stolen one week earlier from the owner’s house by an unknown person.

The prosecutor said the fourth bike could be the subject of a third-degree theft, a misdemeanor, but a conviction is unlikely because of the circumstances of how Daniels and Toomer found the bike and their cooperation in the investigation.
