COEUR D’ALENE – The Barnyard Market will be open at the Meadow Ranch Fridays from 2 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 4. The ranch is located west of Fred Meyer in Coeur d’Alene.

Courtyard to host live entertainment

POST FALLS – The Post Falls Library Courtyard, 821 N. Spokane St., will host two concerts and a talent show next month.

On Aug. 5, residents will share their musical, magical and acting skills when they compete in “Post Falls has Talent.” Prizes will be awarded.

The Jim Boyd Band will perform Aug. 12. Boyd has recorded a number of movie soundtracks and is a Colville tribal member.

On Aug. 19, the seven-member Ah Holly Family of Portland will sing and play instruments ranging from cello to saw.

The concerts will run from 7-9 p.m.

Porsche is raffle’s big prize

COEUR D’ALENE – A Porsche Boxster will be raffled off during the Coeur d’Alene Street Fair, Saturday at 7 p.m. The drawing will be at the Coeur d’Alene Eagles, 209 Sherman Ave.

Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.

Free classes teach computer skills

COEUR D’ALENE – The Coeur d’Alene Library, 702 E. Front Ave., will offer three computer workshops in August.

The Monday workshops are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Introduction to Computers will be offered Aug. 3, 10:30 a.m.-noon. The workshop will provide a basic understanding of computers. Basic typing skills are helpful, but not required.

Basics in Publisher Desktop Publishing,being held Aug. 24 from 5:30-7 p.m., will provide basic skills to begin creating signs, cards, banners, brochures, business cards and more.

Basics in PowerPoint, on Aug. 31 from 5:30-7 p.m., will provide the basics to begin creating visual presentations. Participants should have basic computer skills.

Talented entrants sought for show

SPIRIT LAKE – Talent show contestants are wanted for the Spirit Lake Music’s Talent Show.

Jugglers, comedians, musicians, dancers, magicians and even lion tamers are asked to send a short DVD or CD and a $10 entry fee to Spirit Lake Music, PO Box 343, Blanchard, ID 83804. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

First prize is $100, second prize is $50, and third prize is $25.

The deadline is Aug. 15.

Workshops focus on healthly living

POST FALLS – “Living Well in Idaho,” a six-week wellness workshop beginning Tuesday, will be offered to those suffering from chronic conditions such as asthma, fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis.

The workshop will be taught by Mamie Johnson at the Heartland Senior Apartments, 7745 N. Heartland Drive in Post Falls. Registration will begin at 12:45 p.m.

The workshop will cover healthy eating, breathing and relaxation techniques, how to handle depression, working with doctors, using medication properly, problem solving, and the value of setting weekly goals. The goal is to provide participants with the tools to live independently rather than in a care facility. The classes are free, but registration is required.

Dinner and magic benefit lake

SANDPOINT – Rainmaker and magician Mama Menna will visit Di Luna’s Café, 207 Cedar St. in Sandpoint, on Friday for a dinner and magic show fundraiser to support the Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeepers, advocates of protecting Lake Pend Oreille.

The buffet-style dinner and social will begin at 6:30 p.m.; the magic show starts at 8.

Tickets are $28. A $33 ticket guarantees you won’t be chosen to go on stage. A $100 ticket ensures that you or a friend will be featured on stage.
