Judge sets Nov. 30 deadline for claims

Associated Press
People who contend they were sexually abused by Jesuit priests in the Northwest have until Nov. 30 to file claims. A federal judge in Portland, Ore., set the deadline in a case that could affect hundreds of people in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Alaska, and other states. Hundreds of people have stepped forward in recent years to claim they were abused by Jesuits. Attorneys for those victims contend there may be many more victims, including Indian children abused on remote reservations. The Northwest Jesuits filed for bankruptcy protection on Feb. 17.
