Thu., June 11, 2009
Lewis and Clark High School has been ranked 827th out of the 1,500 best high schools in the United States, according to Newsweek magazine.
This is the sixth year the high school has made the list, said Kristy Mylroie, a spokeswoman for Spokane Public Schools. It is the highest rated high school in Eastern Washington. Mount Spokane High School in the Mead School District ranked 1,399.
Thirty-one Washington high schools out of roughly 500 made the list.
“To compile the list, public schools are ranked according to a ratio: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2008 divided by the number of graduating seniors,” Mylroie wrote in a press release.
