Fresh Sheet: 2 food events let you fill up, fill a need
Wine and dine this Saturday to help raise money for Post Falls classrooms.
The Post Falls Education Foundation will host the 13th annual Wine, Stein and Dine from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Greyhound Park and Events Center.
Tickets are $45 in advance and give partygoers access to food and drinks from more than 85 participating wineries, microbreweries and restaurants. Wait until the day of the event, and tickets are $60 (if there are any left).
The money raised is granted to Post Falls teachers for creative classroom projects. In the past 12 years, more than $274,000 has been awarded.
Purchase tickets at Idaho branches of Washington Trust Bank, Dr. Lawrence Gibbon’s office, the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Post Falls Super 1 or Vino, A Wine Shop in Spokane.
Still hungry?
Put that hunger to work for another good cause.
The Greater Spokane Dietetic Association is sponsoring a monthlong fundraiser to benefit Feed Spokane and raise awareness of hunger in the community.
Money raised by Dine Out to Feed Spokane will go toward a refrigerated van to help organizers collect meals from local restaurants and transport them to kitchens that serve those in need.
Feed Spokane collects about 4,000 pounds of prepared food each month that might otherwise go to waste and delivers it to 15 sites, executive director Maurice Smith says. That food is enough for about 7,000 meals.
Simply dine at one of the restaurants listed below on the date it’s participating, and owners will donate part of the tab.
Download a calendar and find links to participating restaurants on the Greater Spokane Dietetic Association web site, at www.nutrition wsda.org/GSDA/. Participating restaurants are still being added.
