Woman stopped for speeding in stolen car

Deputies arrested a 40-year-old Spokane woman Tuesday for possession of stolen property and drugs after she was stopped for speeding while driving a stolen car on Upriver Drive.

According to Deputy Fred Morford, he was working radar on Upriver Drive and stopped Jeannie Christine Hamlin, aka Thornton, for exceeding the posted speed. She pulled into nearby Pasadena Park Elementary School.

Minutes later, Morford learned from sheriff’s dispatchers that the 2008 Mazda CX Hamlin was driving had been stolen Feb. 27 from a Spokane service business. The deputy arrested Hamlin and discovered Ecstasy and methamphetamine.

She was also arrested on a misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license and was issued an $800 citation for speeding, failure to provide proof of insurance and offering an altered license as identification.
