Crash on Argonne injures three teens

A car crash on Argonne Road north of Bigelow Gulch Road early this morning left three teenage boys injured, one critically, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. The 17-year-old driver of a 1993 Mazda Protégé was arrested on two counts of vehicular assault of his two passengers, who are 17 and 18 years old and whose injuries have not been disclosed. The driver’s arm was broken in the single-vehicle crash. The Mazda was seen heading north at 3:35 a.m. on Argonne at high speed, investigators said. The driver lost control of his car on a curve. The car slid off the road and became airborne before crashing into an embankment and trees. Investigators believe alcohol was involved and that the teens were not wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
