QBs shine in Ducks’ scrimmage

By Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. – Justin Roper and Jeremiah Masoli combined for five passing touchdowns and the Green team beat the White squad 21-14 Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Oregon’s spring game, capping the end of Oregon’s first spring session under new head coach Chip Kelly.

Roper spun out of a sack and found Lavasier Tuinei in the back corner of the end zone for the winning 11-yard touchdown with 1:41 remaining in the game for the Green team, capping a game that was as unpredictable as the weather that covered the 12,400 fans in driving rain.

Roper finished 22 of 34 for 301 yards and three touchdowns, while Masoli, who didn’t play in the second half, completed 15 of 22 passes for 215 yards and two TDs, both to Aaron Pflugrad.

“I thought overall our kids really competed and really bought into what we’re trying to do,” Kelly said.
