Blockbuster to close one South Hill Spokane store

Video rental on South Grand closes in early July

Blockbuster Video has announced it will close the company’s movie rental store at 1318 S. Grand on Spokane’s South Hill. Company spokesman Randy Hargrove said the decision followed a normal company review of overall store performance. “That store, it turns out, was just two miles away from another of our stores,” said Hargrove. Maintaining one store on the South Hill is the preferred option for now, he said. Employees at the store will be able to transfer to other Blockbuster locations. The store’s final day of operation will be July 12, Hargrove said. The final day movies can be rented is July 5. No other Blockbuster changes in this area are imminent. The Dallas-based entertainment company has five other Spokane locations and one in Spokane Valley.
