Former sheriff pleads guilty to felony

The Spokesman-Review
Former Nez Perce County Sheriff Jim Dorion pleaded guilty Friday to one felony count of accessory to a crime. A sentencing hearing has been set for Aug. 10, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said in a news release. Dorion has been released on his own recognizance. By pleading guilty, Dorion admitted that, while serving as sheriff, he concealed knowledge of a burglary at Lewiston High School from the city’s police department, the release said. The attorney general’s criminal complaint had accused Dorion of helping Stephen Peak elude capture on three separate burglaries. Dorion was removed as sheriff by the county last year. Last month he was extradited from Louisiana to face charges in Idaho.
