Gar-Pal reaches semifinals

Garfield-Palouse won its first two games of the State 2B tournament Friday by comfortable margins, advancing to the semifinal round at the Gateway Sports Complex in Yakima.

The Vikings started with a 14-4 victory over Toutle Lake and followed that with a 7-1 win over Seattle Lutheran. They play Pe Ell in a semifinal today at noon.

In other action, Colfax beat Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 8-2 in its first-round game, but then fell 3-1 against Mossyrock. The Bulldogs play La Salle in a loser-out game at 10 a.m.

In an afternoon matchup, TOR finished its season with a 5-2 loss to La Conner in a loser-out game.

Davenport was defeated 5-0 by Pe Ell in a first-round pairing, but the Gorillas bounced back to defeat Oroville 14-6. They play Kittitas in a loser-out game today at 10.

Selkirk lost 7-6 in its opening-round game against Kittitas and was later eliminated by a 4-2 loss to Rainier Christian in an afternoon loser-out game.

•2A: Colville cruised to a 12-1 victory over Sequim in its first-round game, but the Indians lost 3-0 to Woodland at Carlon Park in Selah. In its final game of the day Colville beat W.F. West 3-2 to move on. Colville plays Steilacoom today at 10 a.m.

Pullman defeated Selah 9-2 in its first-round matchup, but lost its second-round game to Burlington-Edison 1-0. In their third game of the day, the Greyhounds were eliminated 5-4 by Sequim.

•1A: Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) was unable to avoid elimination after losing two one-run games at TRAC in Pasco.

The Eagles lost their first game to Toledo 9-8. They were eliminated 6-5 by River View after tying the game at 5 in the final inning.

Moriah Beeler led Lakeside with five hits on the day, including two doubles.

1B: Colton cruised to easy victories in the first two rounds at the Gateway Sports Complex in Yakima and locked up a berth in the title game.

After beating Inchelium 12-1 in the first round, the Wildcats toppled St. Michael’s 14-0 to advance.

Colton plays Touchet today for the title at 4 p.m.

St. Michael’s advanced to the second round after defeating Lake Quinault 11-8, but it was sent to the consolation bracket after the loss to Colton.

The Warriors play Almira/Coulee-Hartline in a loser-out game today at 2 p.m.

ACH lost its first-round game to Touchet 1-0, but bounced back to beat Taholah 9-0 to advance.
