Wildlife agents catch black bear wandering in Everett

Associated Press

EVERETT – A black bear that made a temporary home in the city of Everett is headed back to the woods, after police and state wildlife agents tranquilized it and hauled it away.

The bear is believed to be one that had been spotted wandering around Everett since late Wednesday.

Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said the bear was spotted around noon Friday, on a hillside eating blackberries. People had called 911 earlier in the day to report seeing the bear walking toward rail yards at the north end of the city.

When wildlife agents arrived, the bear was shot with a pair of medicine-laced darts to put it to sleep. It’s not known whether it’s the same bear reported wandering in north Seattle and Shoreline earlier this month.
