Police nab father accused of taking toddler

Associated Press
LEWISTON — Police say they have apprehended a Lewiston man accused of taking his 2-year-old son without permission. Police say 39-year-old Charles W. Remacle was arrested by Umatilla tribal police at the Wild Horse casino in Pendleton, Ore. The boy was recovered and is in good condition. The Lewiston Tribune reports the father is in custody pending extradition to Idaho. Lewiston police have been searching for Remacle since he picked up the boy from a daycare without permission last Thursday and failed to return him to his mother. Cathy Gropp, the boy’s mother, said she repeatedly tried to contact her ex-husband and called police Monday when he failed to return the child by noon Sunday as expected.
