Region in brief: Barista robbed at knifepoint

From Staff Reports

Coeur d’Alene police are searching for a man who robbed the Latte Lane Espresso, 510 Best Ave., at knifepoint Saturday.

Officers said the man walked up to the window of the coffee stand about 7:30 p.m., demanded money and showed the barista a knife.

The victim said the robber was a thin white man who appeared to be in his 40s. He was dressed in black clothing and wore a black ski mask. She told officers he may have had light-colored hair. He was last seen running east on Best Avenue.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery should call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320.

Vaccine appointments begin

The Spokane Regional Health District will begin accepting appointments Monday only for patients who are approved to receive the nasal spray version of the H1N1 vaccine and who meet certain criteria set by the CDC.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has prioritized swine flu vaccinations in nasal spray form for healthy people ages 2 to 24 and for adults up to age 49 who are health care workers or who have infants under the age of 6 months in their care.

Only the nasal spray vaccine for the swine flu has arrived at the health district. When injections of the H1N1 vaccine arrive, the district will begin accepting appointments for those vaccines.

For updated information, visit the health district’s Web site at www.srhd.org or call (509) 324-1495.
